My GASHfest 2008
Written by Jonny
Saturday, 09 August 2008

Well there we go then, GASHfest recovery week is nearly over so I guess I should make a post.  Discussion starting up on the forums at: http://www.jonnyworld.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=3758.0 or if you're on Facebook you can check out our two groups: I survived the mud @ Gashfest 08 and GASHcollective, the new official GASH facebook group!

It really was an awesome weekend and definately something we want to do again. Had a few issues such as arguments with the owner of our bar and tent on the Sunday and my gear getting damp and not working properly anymore. Played my set on Thursday which was awesome/amazing/shithot from the feedback I got and the crowd response. Sadly with the equipment issue I had to cancel my sets on our stage on Sunday and the Madhatter's tent which I was dying to play (sorry again Lettie). Had some amazing times up in Scotland despite the mud and insects.

I think the highlights for me was firstly the amazing Thursday night when the DJ's owned all. I was so loving it up on the stage, possibly more than ever before. The crowd were proper good to me. Oh yeah, and as an additonal note I was playing oldskool classic jungle anthems which went down really well.

Jonny GASH Live

Secondly Subsource were definately the best band on (no offence intended to our other legends), live Drum & Bass with an amazing prescence the likes only The Prodigy can usually squeeze out. Crowd interaction, some of the hardest dancing I did all weekend and people going absolutely mental. Check them out! I'm definately gonna try and get myself a CD! Apparantly I enjoyed it so much I completely forgot to take any pictures of it though! D'oh!

Next up was Sunday morning when me and Sophie went for a walk up into the woods. Unfortunately no photos as I had left my phone charging with High Pressure Soundsystem. High Pressure were really good but my definate favorites were the mighty Basswarrior Soundsystem on the Saturday morning. "Original GASHfest!" But yeah, the walk was really lovely, we trekked up the hill as the sun started to bless us, over the streams and up into the trees. We were greeted by the sound of tribal drumming echoing between the trees and eventually caught sight of a figure wearing a little blue hat sat by a treestump with his set of drums. Walking further along the track we came across a few people wearing colorful garments sat in circle chilling out and smoking. We then climbed a good way up the hill before resting and sititng on the path looking out across the valley hearing the music from our soundsystems float in and out from the distance. While we sat there and talked we fashioned small tools out of flint to clean the mud off our boots. It was pretty blissful up there. River Chilling

The next highlight for me just had to be Billy and Beedham's rafting antics with the airbed down the rapids, steering with wooden poles. That was absolutely legend. In fact Beedham and Noddy were absolute Legends themselves throughout the weekend. Nuff respect boys! I then took some rafting up myself with the lovely Gemma as passenger (would have been co-pilot but she was too busy smoking and drinking before she fell off after a collision with a rock).

The coach trips went pretty well with me as Captain of Coach 1 and Hannah Captaining Coach 2. Apparantly mine was the party bus as I ran around trying to keep everyone under control and enforcing the no-drinking, no-eating and no-smoking policies. Music went down pretty well once we got the CD player working. My coach may have been a bit more controlled if I hadn't got the pretty wasted Strangeways crew on board, haha. Bless their cotton socks.

All in all it's been an absolutely epic time and I'm really hoping I can be more involved in GASH again now. I love you all!

Videos up soon! Just gonna run and eat dinner before rushing to the Alma at 8pm. Maybe seeyou around!

Green Light?

Well it seems that JonnyWorld is fully functional again and we seem to have resolved all the Technical problems.  Hopefully this will last and I wont need to do anything drastic.

About 3 week untill GASHfest now. So far I'm confirmed for playing Drum & Bass, Jungle and Dubstep on the main stage as part of the GASH Residents Team. Just waiting to hear further details back from Nikki. It's all shaping up nicely. I may also be playing for Madhatters too but that's not been confirmed yet. But as such  I've made up a short 10 minute demo of my leet Techno skillz. This can be downloaded here from JonnyWorld from the emerging Download section. Still got a bit to do with the colors on the Download section though it seems as you can't read the text on it. Another thing to go on the "To Do" list.

Pirate Cove was pretty awesomeness, with beaches, exploring, donner & chips, Hennessey, dancing to Wiley, sea sun and sand.

Invitational was also full of awesome despite all the hassle that came with it. Ended up missing the first 10 hours of Day 1 due to flight delays and hotel mixups but it was worth it. Especially with the usual perks and such. So we geeked up, hardly slept, hardly ate, got far too easily drunk from doing so but rocked it awesome. Elite Tauren Chieftan were definately a highlight, allthough it was a shame everyone remained seated. Seeing all my friends from Paris was ace as well as seeing the "stars and famous people" who we get to bump into on nice occassions. France in general I'm quite happy being away from still though, it was a pain in the ass for the most, despite it's occasional pleasentness. Went into a little supermarket and was reminded of the horror of french cuisine and crap that they try and sell in shops.

Two weekends away means you have two Galleries to check out if you've not done so already! And even more if you missed the last few. So goto http://www.flickr.com/photos/jonnyworld/ and check out the galleries on the right hand side. I'm still also thinking of utilising this full on for all my pictures and galleries as well. Busy busy with the GASH though.

I've kept myself very busy anyway and when not too occupied been mostly splitting time between Second Life or Doctor Who in various mediums; TV, Videos, DVDs, Audio Drama, Comics, Books, online.... Hammy is indicating I may have some kind of obsession at present. Which is most likely the case, brought on by exposure since I was 5 yeards old and the Evil (Retired) Nefarious Overlord, Russel T Davies (or Rusty as I like to call him). Well Series 4 is over (or alternatively Season 30) so I can have a semi-reset from new stuff on the TV....that would be if I had seen all the old ones their showing on UKTV Drama which is far from the case. I'm marking them off as I watch them though. There are like 751 TV Episodes and I plan to eventually watch them all. I don't think I'm even half way through the task though. Add to that the books, audio dramas and comics and I could be here forever....but I guess time is relative so to speak.  But that is only decorating the core at the moment which is work and GASHfest.

I'm looking forward to GASHfest so much, is going to be amazing, I can't wait for the party, for DJing and for seeing people. Party, party, love and respect!

In order to whet your appetite for our lovely GASHfest you should check out our latest GASHcast featuring the Bam Bam Dealers. They will be playing on the Thursday night on the main stage for the opening night.

Hopefully I can keep this webpage running correctly from now on and it will let me makes more posts. That would be nifty. If I get it all going again I will even offer t-shirts if everyone's well behaved, hehe.  I will be busy a lot with the GASH but hope to do a few things on here anyway.

GASHfest and upcoming...
Written by Jonny
Tuesday, 10 June 2008

Working on sorting out a workable version of this still. I had to phsyically recover my hard drive however first from my broken PC to do it too. Our May holiday was frickin awesomes! We had partying, dancing, drinking, family, Cybermen, time travel and dramas. Photos of the travels can be seen on Flickr as normal .

Additional major news is that I'm confirmed on going to GASHfest as of today. I will be poking everyone about coming soon as it should me awesomely hardcore.  I will also be playing the main stage at some or multiple points.

In more recent happenings, I today managed to goto Pizza Hut and got sunburnt.  I have now learnt my lesson. If there's a Hut, you go IN THE HUT....not outside it.

Peace!

Hammy has mentioned that he plans to go to the Dog & Partridge on Thursday. I'm not yet convinced but just as an update.

Updates

Thursday, 15 May 2008

Firstly it seems that this website is still being completely screwed up and I've not heard stuff back from the webhost yet. I may have to scrap the current site and start again with something a bit more basic.

Second up; my computer is pretty much dead and I've not been able to get all the parts for my new one yet. I am however using my Laptop in the meantime for everything. Hopefully next month I will have the money to finish building my new machine.

All is go for heading to the UK tommorow. Got a good few people coming down to Rockworld next friday too.

Coming up on the Horizon we also have GASHfest which I'm hoping to attend once I get some more details on it. You can see further details of that at www.gashcollective.com/GASHfest/

As an ammendment to this post: I'm looking at scrapping the current website and go back to using Blogger. Need to do some testing first to see if this will bypass the techical problems or not. We can then combine that with a new simpler Forum setup for both here and for GASH. Additionally I'm considering moving the entire set of Galleries over to Flickr instead and then just keep a backup of everything on my side. I'll also create a group on Flickr for us to use. The Wiki will be staying where it is I think as it seems to be working okay. The bottom line is everything will be much more simpler and although I wont have all the features I wanted, it will actually work for a change. Not sure what I'll do with the Weblinks, maybe even get rid of them alltogether. The additional pages I will revert back to their old forms. All I need now really is some time and some decent, simple webpage software to work with.

Plans for May
Written by Jonny
Monday, 28 April 2008

So for those that haven't heard yet, me and the Hambo will be making visatage to Boltonia and Manchestestershire in the coming month. I've personally been very disorganised with this as of yet however Hammy has a plan worked out and mine will be fairly similar.

  • Friday 16th - Arriving
  • Monday 19th - Dave and Hammy going to The Ritz.
  • Tuesday 20th - Watching Iron Man with Fearless Leader Iron Manly  Nat
  • Wednesday 21st - Visiting Chester
  • Friday 22nd - Hammy plans on Rockworld
  • Sunday 24th - Flying back to Ireland and Hammy's Birthday!

Plans are pretty open for change and I hope to speak with people on it in the next few weeks.

In news to what I've been up to recently, well I moved my main Warcraft characters back to the Zenedar Realm to play with Hammy, Gwilym, Suzy, Hemmingway and Gaz. Did a few instance runs this last Saturday. Other than that I've been bust working....oh yeah and let's interrupt this for a take about my French Tax....

Back when I was leaving France I sent my Bank a letter requesting a cancellation of my Direct Debit payments. However they, as usual didn't get this done and I had an extra months rent come out and I became overdrawn. During this time my Taxe d'habitation (Kinda like Council Tax) payment bounced....yet no one decided to inform me. I now, a couple of weeks ago start getting letters saying that due to the fact I haven't paid yet I'm now being charged an extra €90....oh and this is on top of the fact they charged me for a TV Liscense with it when I didn't have a TV. So obviously I contacted the Tax Office pretty much straight off asking how I can pay it. They advise me I can do so by bank transfer. In the meantime my invoice for the first payment of my Tax d'Impot (Income Tax) on last year arrives. So I logon to my French Account and to my dismay I see they've taken the first Habitation Tax out by themselves €390...plus an extra €100 for their effort in doing so. So I contact the Tax Office about this and ask if it's all sorted now...but no. The bank has not paid the Tax Office but instead is HOLDING THE MONEY HOSTAGE until I do so....and will still be keeping the €100 for their trouble. This also means I do not have the money in my French Bank account to pay my Revenue Tax from there....so all of a sudden the French Bank has nearly €500 euros of my money and the Tax Office wants me to pay nearly €1000 euros all at once. That's 1500 euros of my money in one month! I was so shocked and angry about the whole thing this week, it really stressed and upset me.

Anyway....back to what I've been up to. Other than that I've been on Second Life, going to Church and chewing over The Word, going clubbing, building my TARDIS and hanging out chatting on the voice chat. Gonna try and give my galleries another sort out so I can get some pictures up soon. Hopefully the JonnyWorld server is gonna behave now and actually let me do stuff on here.

Bye for now!

Cassidy's Visit
Written by Jonny
Monday, 07 April 2008

Cassidy came over from France and put in a visit with us at Cork on his way back from (a crazed) wedding. But firstly I acquired House of the Dead for the Wii for some old skool Zombie blasting. The thing about it being an Arcade game is the fact that once you Game Over then you have to go all the way back to the begining again. Taking this into account I'm thinking of switching the difficult down from it's orignal difficulty onto easy so we can make a bit more progression. While playing it in the Arcade previously I never realised how bad the voice acting is on the game. And I mean not just sub standard, horribly bad. It's almost like they tracked down the worst actors they could find....or maybe using the terms actors gives it too much credit. Seriously dire.

The second game I picked up was Dance Dance Revolution for the Wii, for some reason renamed to "Dancing Stage" for Ireland. It's got a lot of potential and has been pretty enjoyable, however it's going to take a lot of practice before I can start pulling off C Rankings. The track list is pretty good though, with light happy hardcore vibe versions of different songs. The dance mat that comes with it seems reasonable but I wish it cushioned the sound of my jump moves a little bit more. It's definately a good work out, however I don't have my weight to hand in order to work out how much I'm burning in calories.

Then was the Doctor Who Season 4 Premiere. Definately not what I was expecting, it was very much a kiddie orientated story which was a dissapointment. I hope it's not damaged it's audience figures for next week. Sadly no where near as good as the Classic Doctor stories I've been watching recently, proving budget isn't all. However the past 3 Seasons have shown there to be pretty much hit and miss episodes anyway. But when I say miss, it's not really a miss, rather than they've set their own bar too high. I reckon it will start to build up now as we progress through the weeks and this episode has just been to get Donna onboard and reaquainted. I have to say though, despite not being very threatening, I did love the adorably cute Adipose. I reckon the episode needs a second watch now I know what to expect and that I'll probably enjoy it a lot lot more the second time around.

I'm currently reading the Dalek Empire short stories which are wonderful, thought provoking, threatening and unsettling. As with the entire Dalek Empire audio series, it really shows the Daleks at their full potential. A real dangerous threat. And with stories spanning across time periods, Doctors and Assistants, it works really well.

Well anyway, following the Doctor Who I met Craig on his way out from work and headed to his place to meet Cassidy at the pub next door. However he had managed to get a bit lost on the way so I grabbed a beer (thanks Craig) and watched Spaced, series 2, on DVD while waiting. When it got together we headed over to Fred Zepplins for some drinks and to see Nils DJing at the Industrial evening upstairs. We then acquired some more crew and headed over to The Slate which was completely packed from wall to wall. Me and Cassidy then went on a mission across town to a Youth Hostel where he'd met some people who said it was open late if you were already in there. Unfortunately the time had been been passed on wrong and we'd missed the closing by an hour. However as we wandered down the street working out a plan we saw some people going into this Bar called Flux. So we went in there and it seems they are one of the latest serving places in Cork. It turns out it was a Gay Bar which this girl Cassidy managed to pull in there (what are the odds?) kept stating repeatedly "You do know this is a Gay Bar, right?", much to my amusement. I assured her this wasn't really an issue, heh. So much dancing and drinking was had as the partying went on. It was a bit awesome.

On the way out, Cassidy and his girl went into the Off-license which was inside the bar....which is a bizzare place to have one open. It seems it's open normally during the day and then opens into the bar later...it was a bit baffling. Anyway, I declined the offer to go back with Cassidy and the random people to their place I was completely wasted and it wasn't the most attractive or sensible proposition. So I let him head off for further adventures and missioned my way back home.

The whole thing pretty much owned me a bit. But that's what happens when you go out on a night drinking with a true Scott. I think next week will be a bit more laid back in that extent, heh.

Drum N Bass Impact
Written by Jonny
Monday, 31 March 2008

So I was meaning to post this last week but didn't get round to it. I went out to Drum N Bass Impact at An Crusicin Lan in Cork last Saturday. The venue was great, like some kind of Metal pub but they'd cleared away all the tables and chairs to leave a half stone tiled and a half laminated wood dancefloor (which did get a bit wet and slippy as the night went on though). They started off with some damn heavy Drum and Bass and then went so some classic Jungle tunes, then back to the D&B before the headliner came on wearing a mask and pushing the beats into as much noisecore as he could (Martin would have loved it).

I'm pretty dissapointed that I missed this weekend's GASH Soundclash though. That looked pretty impressive and like a dream setup. However at 400 euros, I just couldn't afford to make it this time. Why the plane tickets were so expensive for that weekend I have no idea....which reminds me I need to book ticket to Paris for the Blizzard Invitational at the end of June. I'm also in Boltonia during may so I hope to see quite a few of you. I may be travelling around at other points as well but still to be determined.  Sounds like the Soundclash was "Mega-Mint" though and fun was had by all. I miss you guys and it sucks when I miss out on joining in on these things with you. I feel like I'm having memories stolen by not being there to remember it! Bigup all the GASH Crew for making the magic happen and for everyone turning up. You're all Legends!

The TARDIS lands this Saturday
Written by Jonny
Monday, 31 March 2008

I'm very excited to say that the new Season of Doctor Who will be starting this Saturday evening on BBC One.  This is leading straight on from the Torchwood Finale on Friday evening where Captain Jack and the team will be taking on Jack's old parter in crime as he tried to tear down Jack's world.

Torchwood Season 2 has had some amazing moments and fantastic stories, with possibly the only letdown being the whole Owen being dead thing. In fact that probably spoilt the Season for me. Looking at the other episodes, cutting that out would have made it a fantastic run. And there really has been some fantastic stuff in there. Ianto has really come out as a strong character I think over this time and killing the whole Gwen/Jack love thing was definately a good move. We're also getting to see how Jack's Torchwood has developed opposed to Torchwood One.  The use of UNIT was fantastic, however their new found Guantanamo style behavior was rather disturbing.  I'd really like to see the return of the missing Torchwood cells within Britain and see this become more of part of a greater machine, rather than the little cowboy unit it is at present following the Battle of Canary Wharf.

I'll try and attach a image of my Second Life persona in virtual Torchwood onto this post later but still sorting out galleries and images at present (and progress is actually good today).

Anyway, to wet your appetitive, here's the Doctor Who Season 4 Trailer.

I still plan to re-organise my YouTube page at some point but that's down the priority list for now.

Stonehenge Timewatch
Written by Jonny
Monday, 31 March 2008

A new archaeological dig has started at Stonehenge which will be filmed by the BBC and broadcast later in the year on their Timewatch programme.  It seems the theory behind the dig is to try and prove that it was used as centre for healing, like some kind of ancient hospital. Not quite as fun as the partying theories but we'll see how it goes. They plan to update the website for it as it happens which can be found at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/programmes/stonehenge/

Quincy Demands It!
Written by Jonny
Monday, 31 March 2008

Just testing out my new blogging software so I thought I'd give this a post. I'm intending to make it easier for me to put things up and therefore encourage myself to do more. At the moment the website is still being a pain in the ass as I can't upgrade as the two software developers that make the main page and the forum are having legal issues so it looks like they will not co-operate in future. So for now I just hang on and make the best of what I've got and try to tweak it to do what's needed. If I hang on long enough someone should develop software to do what I want with JonnyWorld or they can sort out their damn legal wrangling.

In random news I read this morning (I'm thinking of commenting on news stories more again!), Jack Klugman, better known to us as Quincy is suing NBC for trying to scam him out of money. His contract with NBC alledgedly states that he should be recieving 25% of the show's earnings. Quincy claims that NBC are lying that they are losing money from the show so don't have to pay him anything.

Problems need a solution
Written by Jonny
Monday, 24 March 2008

Still having substantial trouble with the website. It's being a major pain in the butt and putting me off doing stuff as everytime I try it just gives me issues...

I need a solution and I need motivation!

Had an awesome weekend anyway, I have more pictures and video to get up but with the website being dodgy and my computer dying it's a bit hard to get them sorted. Anyway, I best be getting to bed and I can think up some kind of wizardry to sort all this mess up.

Server Issues
Written by Jonny
Saturday, 15 March 2008
Looks like another weekend of server issues for JonnyWorld sadly so I can't do any work on it really as it just keeps dying. However I am working on a couple of things offline and it's gonna be a busy weekend anyway. Have two nights out including Fred Zepplins and St. Paddy's Day. More information soon if possible. Going to try to post this message again for the 5th time.

Recover before tommorow?
Written by Jonny
Monday, 10 March 2008

I've been feeling on the edge of illness all weekend (the bad ill, not the good ill...bad meaning bad, not bad meaning good(sucka)) and it's finally hit me. I'm back to work tommorow so I really hope I can get over this by tommorow morning. Feeling really crappy at the moment and just want to lie down and sleep but trying not to mess my sleep pattern up again. I had a load of stuff I was gonna write but I'm in a bit of a brain haze at the moment so I'll just drop on a video instead for now.

Oh yeah and the weather is getting real crazy again outside now. I thought it was supposed to be past by now. We had to turn the TV to like twice the normal volume at least in order to hear it last night with all the wind battering the apartment.

I'll give it another try later then I guess.

Wiki down, Wiki Up
Written by Jonny
Tuesday, 19 February 2008

And it's up again!

....yes i'll probably break it again very soon but that's one of my weekend tasks done. I've also been cleaning the apartment, sorting out chores and organising things. Along with that I started levelling up a Shaman on WoW that may possibly replace my RP character on Defias Brotherhood (still not sure on that one). I've also been exploring the strange world/worlds of Second Life and it's a very intresting concept. It's pretty much what VRML was supposed to be. It is both what the internet should and what the internet should not be. Still getting to grips with everything on it but finally settling in. Now all I need to do is polish my avatar a bit and claim a home somewhere in the "Grid's" cyberspace. I'll link it from JonnyWorld once I have one so people can have a look. It's free to look about, the only thing is it's insanely hard to get to grips with.

Anyhoo, going to go clean the bathroom now. Mom's coming later in the week and I'm finding it hard to get all my normal stuff done with these hours. Thankfully the Knightshift is over next weekend and I'll be able to grab hold of some normality again. So much to do. So little time. *sigh*

Site Mixup

Will fix when I can. *sigh*

I'm bringing Wiki back!
Written by Jonny
Tuesday, 12 February 2008

Maaaaaaaan.

I'm so tired and useless at the moment. It seems I left my shoes in a silly place so when Hammy came home at lunch he tripped over them and woke me up 3 hours after I went to bed. Sadly I couldn't get back off to sleep proper after that really. I did manage to get 2 hours later on but then I overslept and missed the shopping trip, which was sadly also cut short as the shops closed earlier today. It's so not going according to plan. So now it's 5am or so and I'm up on Redbull trying to survive the night. I'll probably go to bed early though.

I had continuing problems trying to get the new gallery running but I may try and sort that tommorow instead if I get time. I don't understand why it keeps crapping up though. I did get the Wiki running again though and that's up at the ol' www.wiki.jonnyworld.co.uk and via the menus.

Just spent all night working on technical stuff and updates for the site. Nearly finished switching the Wiki back again to the old less buggy system. The new gallery software is also on the way to being set up. Going to wind down now for the night though, watch a DVD and have some breakfast before Hammy gets up and I go bed. Hopefully more news soon.

It seems there's still a few technical issues with the integrated Wiki sadly. I may have to try rolling back to the old Wiki system instead as it's ported across very badly. However then the login bridge is completely screwed up. I'll have another look at it but it's in a pretty crappy state at the moment. :-(

Loading Speeds
Written by Jonny
Tuesday, 22 January 2008

We've had a great deal of problems with JonnyWorld loading slow or not at all in the last few months. I've set the technicians on it now so hopefully it will improve some.

It's amazing how quickly my 3 day weekends seem to pass. With the less hours during the week all my tasks seem to stack up for then so it just seems really busy and that I'm cramming to get everything in. I'm really glad to have the travel time cut though so that's not taken away.

I'll be moving onto Knightshift next month which should be odd. The hours are pretty extreme. I was under the impression I never had to do them again but there was some miscommunication at some point. I'll have to try and switch over my sleeping pattern this weekend anyway.

I'm feeling particularly lazy at the moment and can't be assed going out and doing stuff. Well that and I spent my money for the month already. I guess I'm just trying to settle in I guess. Can't help feeling I should be doing more but at the same time just wanting to laze about. I missed so many opportunities in France in similar fashions. Well in that case it was a pain in the ass getting in and out of Paris. And the secondary problem being getting other people that want to go out and do things at the same time. I really really wanted to go to Eurodisney but the plans always fell through. Maybe I can go back and visit at some point and do that, that'd be neat.

I purchased a laptop finally which is working out well for me. I have a second machine to play WoW on and I have it setup working as a kind of secondary monitor. It's prime function however is to run my DJ Console out and about. I'll get some practice in again at some pont and then I'll come back and GASH it up a bit. I think it's most likely gonna be Drum & Bass if I do. I'll see what I'm feeling as I get on with it.

I've still got so many different things that I wanted to get done tonight so I'd better make a move with them. Peace out for now.

Weekend Illness
Written by Jonny
Monday, 07 January 2008

Me and Hammy have both been ill over the weekend. We were supposed to be going out into town on Saturday but both feeling off and having bad headaches we decided to stay in. He's back at work today and feeling okay but I'm on my final day of weekend today and feeling pretty grim sadly. Various things I should be doing at the moment but I don't quite feel up to them. May try and go through my recent photos and sort them some more but they're up on Flickr still at the moment. I need to pay for my Pro account subscription but having problems as my Credit Card is maxed at the moment for the month. Should have that sorted and paid very soon though.

I tried out Second Life finally after however many years it's been around. It's a pretty neat concept but due to it's nature it's slow, cumbersome, buggy and generally icky. Found some really neat things people have made on it though. From virtual versions of Canada, Manchester and Cork all the way to space stations to castles, it's all in there. I even went to the Anglican Cathedral there on Sunday where they were holding services. It's all very strange but intriguing with it's many possibilities.

Next weekend I hope to travel forwards in time to London of 2038 where me and Hammy will be pushing the Demons back towards Hellgate: London. Armed with a Templar Blade and a prayer I think we can make a stand.

Happy New Year for 2008!

End of 2007
Written by Jonny
Monday, 31 December 2007

Well here we are at the end of another year. It's been a big one that's taken me from Planet Hollywood in Paris over to Mountains and Deserts of the USA, up northwards to Canada, back over to France, hopping over the UK and now to Ireland. It's also been helluva busy really since the summer. Running around getting stuff organised and settling in here. But this mean's it's been pretty darn quiet on JonnyWorld. Despite the (debatably moderatley/semi) sucessful upgrade of the website, the tumbleweed pretty much rolls on by most of the time. I'm just not getting the time or enthusiasm to get on here enough and neither is anyone else really. Things will keep on ticking over for now though and I'll be making the ocassional post. We'll see what happens anyway.

I hope you've all got some neat plans for tonight and I wish I could have joined people at the Soundhouse on the weekend. Two consecutive weekends back in the UK would have been a bit much though. Me and Hammy popped back for a slightly early Birthmas, celebrating mine on the Saturday and Jesus' on the Sunday (and partially both again on the Tuesday). Sunday seemed like full on proper Christmas with church in the morning, and the big meal in the evening.  We were sadly working on Tuesday  as I've previously mentioned. First Birthmas away, it was a bit much first thing in the morning but Hammy cheered me up and I put on my Santa hat. Listened to Christmas music (as I had been for the full week) and we had turkey and stuffing sandwiches. Also got some Christmas puddings and Mince Pies and stuff so it worked out pretty well. Webcammed with the parents in the evening and spoke to people on the phone.

I'm so behind on my correspondance right now. I have so many e-mails to sort through it's crazy. I'll hit people back as soon as possible. I guess I'd better get back to it now actually.

Have a Happy New Year people!

Internet for all!
Written by Jonny
Monday, 17 December 2007

After a few false starts, a lot of stress and a lot of fussing about we now have computers with internet in bedrooms (with desks). Yaaay! My desk seems kinda wobbly at the moment however and the edge of it is sharp, I guess it may need a bit of tweaking somehow. My room is kinda cramped now but cosy. It reminds me of some kind of peaceful little cave.

I've got lots more organising, tidying and chores to do today but now I have net in my room I should be on more.  Sat on a crappy chair at the moment but it's a step up from the floor (literally). Hopefully I can make the whole thing a bit more comfortable for use somehow and a little less wobbly.

Hope you're all feeling festive and such!

Huh? What is this thing I behold on my TV table? I believe it may be that interweb thing. How bizzare.

More on this story as it unfolds.

Still Alive
Written by Jonny
Monday, 12 November 2007

Yep. I'm still good and I'm now living in Ireland fully. I have an apartment of awesomeness and life is going well. Still lots of stuff to sort out an organise but it's okay. I don't have net access at home yet so I'm just doing this briefly from the office while I sort out some relocation stuff and important e-mails. I need to head back home and phone the Letting Agent again about a few things so I don't have time to type much now. I'm looking forward to being all sorted out and connected again but until then such posts will be scarce.

Looking forward to speaking to you all soon!

Hellweek: Europe
Written by Jonny
Friday, 26 October 2007

Argh, blerg, ick, argle. I've had a completely terrid week of disaster following disaster. Moving country has proved to be a huge pain in the bootocks and a journey to the lands of Chaotica. It's been literal blood, sweat and tears on one day even. I'm in the UK at this moment in time and have had a couple of vaguely relaxing days. Had a lovely time seeing the family (Get well soon mom!) but sadly didn't see any of the mates I was supposed to see as they all failed at Pub. FAIL! I did however have a nice time at the Alma anyway and watched 3 punk bands while perching on a Bar Stool for 4 hours drinking. Heading off to the airport in an hour or so and I will be in Ireland later this evening.

Photo's of the journey so far can be found on the Flickr Gallery .

I'll see what I can get in the way of Internet later on when I get there.

Last day of Internet
Written by Jonny
Monday, 22 October 2007

As I'm leaving France tommorow I shall be soon taking apart the computer and returning my rented modem to Orange. I just have a few things to sort out first, like a letter explaining that I want to return my Livebox. It should be a crazy busy day. I have so much to pack and clean and I'm supposed to be going to the O'Paris to say goodbye to people later.

Not sure why the JonnyWorld front page is having loading problems again but hopefully like last time it will resolve itself. No time to look into it now though.

I should be able to access some internet at our new office and maybe at the Hotel so you will hear from me in the next month or so. I'll take lots of photos as well to put up when I get a chance. It should be a great adventure exploring the Land of Lepricaunica.

For those Boltonians, I plan to be in t'Alma on Thursday evening as a stop off on the way before I do the final leg on Friday.

Oh and those in the grounds of Versailles, if you read this on here or the Book of Face then O'Paris is from 19:00 onwards (but I will probably be late).

To end this magnificiant posting I will include an amusing quote for the day which relates to the revalation by JK Rowling that Dumbledore is Gay.

"It's great that JK has said this. It shows that there's no limit to what gay and lesbian people can do, even being a wizard headmaster." - Gay Rights Group Stonewall

Yellow Alert
Written by Jonny
Friday, 19 October 2007
Okay, we have stepped down the panic level to a more easy-going yellow alert instead. I will be moving my stuff to the drop off point on Tuesday now and then it will be shipped over from there. I now only need to worry about packing, cleaning and whether the French transport strike is going to stretch out into next week. I should now be in the UK either on Tuesday evening or on Wednesday. This is yet to be worked out. More news as it develops...

NOBODY PANIC
Written by Jonny
Thursday, 18 October 2007

So it's now Thursday. I have my Landlady coming round tommorow to look at refurbishing that she wants to do. I'm working on Saturday and Sunday for my final days at the Europe office. I was then going to hopefully move my stuff out on Monday and then the removals company were going to collect it from a designated point on Tuesday....however.....the removals company still hasn't confirmed. Everything's in panic and chaos. The clock is ticking. I'm probably not going to be here for the exit walkthrough of my apartment. The French government wants to charge me for a TV License for a TV I don't have. I don't know when Hammy's interview will be in Ireland despite us wanting to share an apartment when/if he gets the job (which I am quite confident about but I want it to be sorted). I don't know if I have a backup plan sorted or what is going to happen in the next few days. I may be in Bolton/Manchester sometime between Tuesday to Friday...or I may not....anything can happen in the next 7 days.

Better get back to panicing...I mean packing and stuff.

More Casting
Written by Jonny
Saturday, 13 October 2007

I was panicing so much about getting my furniture moving sorted I forgot to post a couple of things.

Firstly, further casting news regarding the new Star Trek movie. Yesterday Simon Pegg (of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Spaced, etc.) was named for the role of Scotty. He will join Heroes' Sylar (Zachary Quinto) as Spock and Eric Bana as some "other dude". We still await our new Kirk....

There have been bits and pieces of Torchwood/Doctor Who casting news but nothing that's overly stuck out to me. The first two Sarah Jane Adventures were really good and are attracting some of CBBC's largest audiences ever by the looks at the ratings...however I need to cut this short and get moving out to work.

The other thing I wanted to mention briefly is that the "gang" who punched a hole in that painting have been caught by Police here in Paris.

Bye for now! Busy busy.

Nuit Blanche
Written by Jonny
Monday, 08 October 2007

A piece of art that me and Mom only just saw a few weeks back has been "destroyed" by a random group of kid it seems.

A gang of intruders has broken into a museum in Paris and inflicted serious damage on a painting by Impressionist artist Claude Monet.

Four or five people were caught on camera breaking into the Musee d'Orsay via a back door early on Sunday.

An alarm sounded but the apparently drunken group fled after punching a 10cm (four inch) hole in the famous painting Le Pont d'Argenteuil.

This is the latest in a number of security incidents at French museums.

The attack occurred on Paris's Nuit Blanche - an annual all-night festival of music and culture.

That kinda sucks. I really hate it when people spoil pieces of art. It ruins it for everyone else. That goes all the way to burning paintings to defacing tags, it sucks. I missed all of the Nuit Blanche stuff yesterday and sadly didn't get any photos of all the intresting goings on around Versailles with them laying turf down in courtyards, putting up random plants, tables and benches and lots of tents everywhere. No photos either due to the fact I'd l'd left my cameraphone in the UK by accident and only got it in the mail today.

I was absolutely shattered yesterday though. After my first day shift I went to bed at about 10 at night and then of course, the French win the Rugby. That meant shouting and cheering for the next several hours as I was trying to sleep with all the cars driving past my apartment on the one-way system beeping their horns like mad. As I was half alsleep through most of it it just seemed like one long bad dream. I managed to get up at 5:30am but by 10:30am I was at my desk with my head in my hands feeling awful. Thankfully going and getting a sandwich to tide me over to lunch meant I could actually work again but it was a really grueling day; especially being Sunday and having to get two buses to get to work along with a long walk.

Anyway, over to Wikipedia:

Nuit Blanche ( literally White Night or All Nighter in French) is an annual all-night cultural festival. The festival lasts from sundown until sunrise on the first Saturday and Sunday in October and has, since its premiere in Paris under mayor Bertrand Delanoë in 2002, spread to many other cities internationally.

JonnyWorld Condition: Green

Saturday, 06 October 2007

Forums are back up!

Everything is fixed again and in reasonable working condition now as far as I can see (I'm just waiting for the next problem to crop up). You can now comment on any of this weeks posts and get back on posting on the forums.

There's one load off my mind at least. Now all I have to worry about is getting all my stuff from France to Ireland in 3 weeks time. The clock is ticking and things are slowly coming together but not well enough as of yet to ease my mind over the whole matter/fiasco. I'm sorting out the loose ends here on Tuesday so that'll be a major step I guess. The actual moving of items is my main worry at the moment.

One little bit of awesomness is the fact that my nearly home of Cork has been featured in both of the new episodes of Heroes apparantly. Not see it yet but it sounds like a definate must. Apparantly the accents are poor though according forum posts I've seen by Cork residents.

In other news, GASH is indeed back as previously mentioned and we're presenting the Inner Terrestials at Satan's Hollow on the 14th. Once I'm settled in Cork I hope to put in some more apearances on the weekends.

Ig Nobel Results 2007
Written by Jonny
Friday, 05 October 2007

I was reading on BBC News that the Ig Nobel Prize 2007 results are in....

Ig Nobel PrizeThe Ig Nobel Prizes were created by the Annals of Improbable Research (AIR), a science magazine.

The awards, now in their 17th year, are intended to "celebrate the unusual, honour the imaginative - and spur people's interest in science, medicine and technology".

Marc Abrahams, the editor of AIR, told the BBC News website: "When I became the editor of a science magazine, suddenly I was meeting all kinds of people who had done things that were hard to describe, and for the most part, nobody had ever heard of.

"For some of them, it seemed a great shame that nobody would give them any kind of recognition, and that was what really led to the birth of the Ig Nobels."

Like their more sober counterpart, the Nobel Prizes, the Ig Nobels are split into several categories and all research is real and published.

2007 Ig Nobel Winners

Medicine - Brain Witcombe, of Gloucestershire Royal NHS Foundation Trust, UK, and Dan Meyer for their probing work on the health consequences of swallowing a sword.

Physics - A US-Chile team who ironed out the problem of how sheets become wrinkled.

Biology - Dr Johanna van Bronswijk of the Netherlands for carrying out a creepy crawly census of all of the mites, insects, spiders, ferns and fungi that share our beds.

Chemistry - Mayu Yamamoto, from Japan, for developing a method to extract vanilla fragrance and flavouring from cow dung.

Linguistics - A University of Barcelona team for showing that rats are unable to tell the difference between a person speaking Japanese backwards and somebody speaking Dutch backwards.

Literature - Glenda Browne of Blue Mountains, Australia, for her study of the word "the", and how it can flummox those trying to put things into alphabetical order.

Peace - The US Air Force Wright Laboratory for instigating research and development on a chemical weapon that would provoke widespread homosexual behaviour among enemy troops.

Nutrition - Brian Wansink of Cornell University for investigating the limits of human appetite by feeding volunteers a self-refilling, "bottomless" bowl of soup.

Economics - Kuo Cheng Hsieh of Taiwan for patenting a device that can catch bank robbers by dropping a net over them.

Aviation - A National University of Quilmes, Argentina, team for discovering that impotency drugs can help hamsters to recover from jet lag.

Well done to everyone for that amazing scientific research. *applause*

I fail at waking times!
Written by Jonny
Friday, 05 October 2007

Yes. A big fat FAIL!

To shift over to my new sleeping patterns I went to bed at 10pm last night (well maybe half past at least). But then it get's to 1am and I wake up. I then wake up again at 2am and 3am. So it's getting close to my target of 6:30am, one hour after my alarm will be going off for the rest of the week.....but no.... I set my alarm for 6:30pm instead and end up coming to conciousness at 9:20am, 3 hours later then the time I should have and 4 hours later then I'm going to need to be. This isn't going well so far...ah well though. Looks like I've landed myself permant dayshifts so I have quite some time to get into the groove. The other exciting thing is I'm going to be moving onto normal weekends permenantly as well in a few weeks time. Well kind of normal at least, I have Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. It's all pretty exciting.

Anyway I've got lots to do today (maybe with some attempting to fix the forum bridge here) plus visiting the fantastical Brewfest again where me and Hammy had a Ball yesterday. We also did some fantastic "boosting" instance runs  and managed to get ourselves kitted out with some pretty bitchin' equipment.

I'll probably leave another post on here later. Bye for now though!
