Chapter 3: The Relm Rescue Force

Craxton sighed. The meeting had NOT gone well. In addition to the
first, two more brawls had broken out between the Relm Defilers and
the Defenders. In the end, almost nothing had been accomplished.
Fortunately, he did get a volunteer. Spoony was going with him to the
moon, and they were both strapped in chairs in the charter rocket
flight service. He hoped to be able to find Fu, otherwise they might
as well give up against the hordes of defilers.

After giving the AGFFSDIAIA agents a briefing on what had happened and
on what he knew, they started thinking out their plan. Bob and Kain
started discussing math as Kim left briefly to phone AGFFSDIAIA HQ to
get information.

"Now," she said as she came back, "these files are Top Secret. We're
not supposed to let you see these, so you never even knew they existed.
Alright?"

Bob nodded. "Sure."

Kim opened the folder she had. Inside were several pictures, which Bob
recognized as Mr. X, or someone very much like him. Kim pulled one out.

"This is Mr. X," she said.

She pulled out another picture. "This is Mr. Z."

And another. "This is Mr. Y."

Bob was slightly confused. "They all look the same!"

Kain nodded.

"That's because they're all clones. We BELIEVE Mr. X is the original,
but we have no way of knowing for sure."

Kim got out another picture, this one of a bunch of men in white
coats.

"These are supposedly agents from T.H.E.M. It is also believed Mr. X
is the ringleader, and that they are plotting against the leaders of
AGFF."

Kain spoke up again. "The coats, the van, the kidnapping, it all fits
in. The only questions are what we want to do about it, and how are we
going to save Relm?"

"Ahem?" Kim asked. "Relm? She is a videogame character. She doesn't
exist."

"Really?" Bob countered, "And what about... Vincent Valentine? He's a
respected poster, and he's a game character."

Before Kim could say something about that, Bob went on.

"And Kain!" he exclaimed, pointing at Kain, "Don't tell me HE doesn't
exist! Or are we both crazy, hmm?"

Kim gave in. "All right, all right! I give in! You saw Relm!
Sheesh."

"So," Kain said, "are we going to visit Mr. X, or do you have a
different idea?"

"Let's pay him a visit," Bob replied, grinning evilly.
